O Helloween é uma banda de Power Metal alemã originada no começo da década de 1980 por Michael Weikath (guitarra), Kai Hansen (guitarra e vocal), Markus Grosskopf (baixo) e Ingo Schwichtenberg (bateria). É considerada por muitos como a criadora do power metal

Esse rapaz,que aparentemente não tinha muita experiência,foi um dos responsáveis por colocar no Helloween no altar dos eternos do metal,seja melódico,speed,chame como quiser,pois vocalistas bons há inúmeros,ótimos há menos,mas nesse estilo de vocal pode-se destacar Bruce Dickinson do Iron Maiden,Eric Adams do Manowar,mas excelentes são pouquíssimos,como o ultraclassico e totalmente monocórdio Ozzy Osbourne,a soprano Tarja turunen do Nightwish e sim,o tenor Michael Kiske.Em 1987,quando o primeiro Keepers foi lançado,jamais tinha-se escutado um vocalista com tanta técnica,dominio vocal,afinação perfeita,alcance fenomenal de notas altas a altissimas e sustain tão longo.Foi um sucesso instantâneo!
As guitarras também eram um show à parte.Lideradas por Kai Hansen e Michael Weikath
um dos compositores mais brilhantes do metal não apenas por seu refrões grudentos "sing along",mas também por suas partituras complexas,com andamentos rápidos,solos marcantes,escalas dificeis,domínio extremo de seu instrumento fizeram do primeiro Keeper uma febre mundial!
Com todo esse sucesso,a gravação do Keeper II foi feito por uma major,com mais infra-estrutura e melhores condições de gravação,e se o primeiro álbum já contava com eternos clássicos como "Future world","A little time" e "I´m alive",a segunda parte continha hinos como "Eagle fly free","Dr. Stein",e a suprema,magnânima,perfeita,desafio de qualquer vocalista que preste,"I want out".Desde que foram lançadas,entre 1987 e 1988,essas faixas jamais podem ser deixadas de lado nos shows,mesmo com o atual vocalista Andi Derris.
De 1993 pra cá,quando Michael Kiske e Kai Hansen deixaram a banda em Chamaleon,a banda sofreu várias mudanças no line-up,tendo agora Andi Derris nos vocais e Sascha Gerstner no lugar de Hansen.Outras formações nos trouxeram trabalhos memoráveis,como "The time of the oath","Master of the rings" e "The dark ride"(afinal,o terceiro Keeper,sem Kiske,é de gosto duvidoso,apesar de seus bons momentos).
